Vintage United States Military Academy West Point Cadet Mess Butter pat. Made by Carr China company for James M. Shaw & Co. I’m not sure of age but this is an older pattern; Carr China went out of business in 1952. This little butter pat is about 3” in diameter. It is a thick, substantial stoneware, pottery, or porcelain, in teal green and white. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing, but there are surface scratches and some light brown staining on the underside. Backstamp reads: Made by Carr China Co, for James M. Shaw & Co., Expressly for “The Cadet Mess” West Point N. Y.
