Vintage High-Relief 8 x 10 inch Champlevé Enamel
Cowboy Bucking Horses Framable Art on Solid Brass
This is a wonderful 40+ year old, 8 x 10 inch piece of colorful fine art on solid brass .020 inches thick, that is easier to explain in a paragraph and photos than it is in the title at the top of our listing. Champlevé is a category of fine art enameling, the French name of which describes the raised lines on metal into which an artist applies opaque and translucent enamels to highlight the details of the items depicted.
As Champlevé goes, this is a very large piece - because of the work involved, Champlevé pieces are most often much smaller. This piece is in very fine condition, especially considering its age.
The subject of this large piece of framable vintage Champlevé is western bucking horses and their riders (as well as a calf roper) and each of the figures is depicted in beautiful color on a black background by the artist R. Hartman (signed and dated 1981 in the lower right corner). Our photos can’t begin to do justice to the beautiful poster-like quality of the work. In the center of the images are the words THE BUCKEROO STOPS HERE. The backside of the art is only the clean, unfinished brass surface with a few enamel flecks. Very nice condition, exactly as shown.
