Description
This is a beautiful, vintage, one of a kind handmade dulcimer signed by dulcimer maker, Neville Price, Shelbyville Indiana, 1974 and in very, very good condition. It is solid bird's eye maple on back, sides, fretboard and top. Vaulted, inlaid fretboard and marquetry inlay around edges on top and bottom. The peghead is deeply carved. I had 5 star planet tuners replace the old friction pegs at the same time I had 6 1/2 fret and 13 1/2 frets added. The gauge wire on those two frets are very slightly thinner. The action is good with no buzzes or low spots. Total length of dulcimer is 36", Scale length is 29 inches and bridge is movable. Depth of instrument is a hair under 2 1/4 " deep, lower bout is a hair under 7 1/2" and upper is 6 1/2 " Fretboard is 1 1/2 wide. All joins are tight and no cracks or separations of any kind. Signature of builder and dates can be found inside looking down thru the lower weeping hearts sound holes. The new strings have very little time on them. I have it tuned to B F# BB. Padded gig bag and pouch included. I am a dulcimer player with a few too many instruments so, "thinning the herd." SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION REQUIRED.Shipping to lower 48 states only. Payment appreciated within 2 days. Happy to answer questions. Thanks for looking.
