Viking Anglo Saxon Lyre,Traveler Size 22" SCA, LARP Handcrafted In USA. . Condition is New.
This is a Twin Headed Draccahearpe! The coloring on this lyre is Ipswich (or Antique English Pine) very appropriate for Anglo-Saxon or Viking impressions.
These wonderful sounding and compact lyres are perfect for the historical enthusiast on the go. They are absolutley ideal for trekking, romping in the woods or practicing quietly at home. Their light weight and collapsible bridge make them just right for fitting into backpacks or slinging over one's shoulder at a faire.
Crafted in historic styles that can easily translate to more Fae or LOTR impressions they have a distinct deep tone perfect for lays, sagas or visual storytelling. This lyre measures 22 1/4" high, is 1" thick ( excluding pegs) and is 9 1/2" wide. It comes with 6 nylon strings* (for affordability and ease of replacement) ,  6 carved black ebony pegs , a pine frame and Baltic fir soundbox covers.  The tailpiece is Britannia Pewter (lead and nickel free) and was hand cast by myself. The bridge is made from an imitation bone composite of my own creation and has etchings of a Dragon on the upward facing portion. The end peg is made from maple.
The special surprise of this particular lyre is the carved and engraved dragons on both sides of the yoke portion of the frame. Perfect for Tolkien inspired tale telling. We call this the "Draccahearpe" owing to "Dracca/ Draca" being the Anglo-Saxon word for "dragon" and "hearpe" for harp ( or any stringed instruments).
This lyre is extraordinarily light weighing in at only 1.6 lbs.

* these lyres are made specifically for the included nylon strings and NOT metal nor high tension strings. Gut or nylgut substitutes are acceptable. High tension strings may damage the frame, bridge or tailpiece. Do not place over a small child's head. 😉🤣
