Description
I just purchased this antique Overshot art glass pitcher from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The piece is characteristic of the Overshot designs produced by Boston & Sandwich during the 1870's, (Hobbs, Brockunier and several Bohemian glass houses / Kralik did similar forms). The piece is well executed with graceful curvilinear lines to the ovoid body, pulled neck and reeded clear handle. The overshot finish shows nice consistent detail with a tight array. The pitcher measuers 10 ¼" high, 7 ½" from spout to handle and 5" wide. The base has a slightly recessed pontil mark. This piece is in excellent condition with no damage. This striking pitcher would make a fine addition to your collection of 19th century Overshot art glass.
