Description
What an unusual find! This beautifully designed collectible was created by one of the world’s premier china houses, Richard Ginori, for the legendary “ Tre Scalini” restaurant in Rome.A dynamic, contemporary-feeling black and white Arabesque pattern signals both Rome’s eternal freshness and relevance and its historic ( in this case, Moorish and Spanish) roots.
Tre Scalini has been situated in Piazza Navona since January 4, 1815, founded with a license from the Holy See. It famously hosted the celebrities of the “Dolce Vita” during the 1950s, and is best known for its still-secret “Tartufo” recipe, incorporating 13 varieties of Austrian chocolate - and no doubt accompanied by an espresso in one of these dashing cups.
Ginori china has been made in Florence since 1735. There is a museum dedicated to the china in its home city.
The cup and saucer are in excellent vintage shape. I see no cracks, chips, crazing or staining. Design is bright and intact. Happy bidding!
