    Description

Late 1800’s Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Shako
This is an original and late 1800’s Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Shako in untouched condition.
The brass chain around the front is attached by 2 original buttons - in great, unpolished condition. There is the original brass plate on the front of the Shako that reads “VMI / SIC SEMPER /TYRANNIS / VIRGINIA”. The leather chin strap is intact and, although a little dry from age, in great condition. The shako red plume on top is in nice condition as well. The top of the shako is in nice condition with no scratches. The black velvet body is a little out of shape but in good condition and one of the vent plugs is missing. The inside has the original label which says "FROM Ridabock & Co manufacturers of and dealers in Uniforms & Equipment / 65 MADISON AVE NEW YORK".
Penciled to the left of the 65, is "6-3/4". A white lace is inside holding the inside canvas flaps of the shako to adjust the size.
