Description
Offered is this Hondo II four string dulcimer. Bridge needs to be replaced; easy to do and there are plenty of plastic bridges on eBay if you do not want to fashion one.NOTE of SEP 28:
Friendly eBayer states the bridge is okay. The "varied" heights allows for different sound from the strings; especially the two close together. I say it needs a new bridge piece.
The eBayer may be correct; judge for yourself please as I am not expert.
And yes, it is a four string with only two strings.
☹
Not to fear! I have included a new set of D’Addario dulcimer strings, new in package.
😊
These have loop ends; easy to place over the end post screws. The images provide a good visual description. Label inside has HD2 for the model and Made in Korea. I checked it out and all parts secure. Some marks show on the wood. "Worst" is a small sliver separated at top edge across from the top tuner; can just see it sticking up a bit in last image. Also; can see it in image 5 at far right at top near end of the head. May be able to glue it back in place to make it less noticeable. The 14 frets are secure. The 14 frets make it best for a beginner as more room between frets for the fingers. Neck appears straight and the tuners work well with no creep noted. All wood body and sides look to be plywood sheet with a solid wood neck. Both of the strap buttons secure. Approximate measurements: 34.625 LOA. Nut to bridge 28.5. Body 7.25 wide at the sound holes. And a shade under 2 inches thick. Lightweight at about 2 pounds 2 ounces. Not a high-end type; however, it is only a small investment to see if the player is really interested in learning to play the dulcimer before investing in significant funds.
I never photoshop my images. Images may show some dust from sitting and maybe a few dog hairs from my Rescue Pups. Will clean easily. Wrapped in layers of bubble wrap and taped in place. Pack of strings on back of body next to first layer of bubble wrap. Be sure to not throw away. I placed it diagonally in a 6 by 16 by 36 box weighing 6 pounds.
Filled voids with large crumpled heavy grocery bags. The dimensional weight will normally determine the shipping cost as volume is almost always the main factor in shipping packages. Large bright DO NOT LAY FLAT and TOP LOAD ONLY stickers on both sides of shipping box. I will ship via UPS with the first 0 of insurance free under UPS basic rate and I cover all insurance costs over 0. There is no insurance charge to the buyer. You only pay shipping cost. If damaged upon receipt you agree to process any claim. I will assist and support any possible claim. That is allowed by UPS. Be sure to take photos of the box and any item damage. I have not processed a UPS or USPS claim since 2013 as I pack very well. I think the 2013 USPS claim was bogus; but watcha gonna do? I put accurate sizes and weights for the shipping calculations. I do not pad the size or weight to get extra funds through excess shipping costs. Remember both UPS and USPS round up the dimension and weight to the next whole inch or pound to calculate shipping of packages. You can check these against shipping costs at their websites. Do not ding me for shipping cost as the size and weight is revealed in this listing for you to check the shipping cost before you bid. NOTE: Both UPS and USPS have apparently instituted weekend “stops” as there is a shortage of quality employees who want to earn a living. This does entail a weekend delay in many instances.
Request do not ding me for shipping time as I always ship in one or two days and I have no control on the actual movement of the shipped items. That consideration would be appreciated. Again, I do not have control over transit time.
If I do overlook something significant, I will resolve it. Stands, props, or other items that may be seen are not included unless specified. Ask questions before you bid please. I answer quickly and always within 24 hours; normally much sooner. This 23-year Military Mustang says Thank You and my Rescue Pups say Woof!
The non-payers that surface on occasion waste the time of the seller, costs the seller in many cases and is not fair to other bidders if a “winner” changes their mind. I always report non-payers to eBay. Due to an increase in the number of bidders who refuse to pay, want to change the listing or eBay terms after they "win", “squeeze” an additional consideration or argue about their bid or shipping amount: I have had to add restrictions, allowed by eBay. The shipping is what is computed by eBay and I charge the actual cost to me. I make nothing off the shipping cost and I do not add a so-called handling charge nor do I charge for any materials. I do not cancel bids for any reason; other than for non-payment. I disclose as much as I can about my items; that is why most listings are long and detailed. If you are one of the mostly honest buyers with low feedback and desire to bid, please feel free to contact me for an exception to a bid block.
