Learning to play the hammer dulcimer and use embellishments should be a fun experience.  I love the
hammer dulcimer and taught myself to play because there were no teachers in my area and because
workshops just "didn't get it done."  I don't know about you, but having someone tell me to make triangles
didn't do it.  Fine, I could make triangles; but then what was I to do with them.  Then there were the
workshops that said you have to start simple - one note at a time - before you can really embellish;
and it takes a long time to learn to embellish.  Nonsense, I say.  That is why I have
written the embellishment booklet.
The booklet covers chord and non-chord embellishments.  Yes, there are a lot of embellishments that
do not involve chords.  It explains and discusses how to use all embellishments and uses each
discussed chord embellishment in a song.  The song sheet is color-coded with a corresponding
schematic and can be used by those who do and do not read music.  Everything is explained step by step.
Look at the photos.  They give portions of the introduction, non-chord embellishments,
chord embellishments and the practice music sheet.
Move as quickly or as slowly through the booklet as suits your style.  The important thing is to
have fun while you are learning.  All you need is your dulcimer, your hammers and a desire to
make beautiful music because you WILL BE PLAYING YOUR DULCIMER.
