Antique Octagonal Chinese Metal Teapot with Reverse Eglomise Hand Painted Scenic Glass Panels
Period:
Late Qing or early Republican
Dimensions:
6" (15.2 cm) tall with handle down and  about 9" with handle up, 4 1/2" (11.4 cm) in diameter without spout and about 6" with the spout. The item weighs 3lbs 10oz (1.6 kg) without packaging
Design/decoration:
it is shaped like octagon with seven sides showing windows with glass panels reverse painted with everyday Chinese life scenes. The side with the spout has a single character below it, reading 'Fu', which is 'Good Fortune'. It will enhance any room decor: living room, family, bedroom or display in the entry hall. A feast for a collector.
Back Stamp/Mark:
there's round seal embossed on the bottom,
that reads:
“Chao Yi / good material / Yong Shun old shop”. Where
Chao Yi, or Chao County refers to Chaoyang County
one of historical Teochew
prefecture's eight counties and its most populous in Guangdong Province. And 'good material'
means copper alloy with more than 70% of tin content.
Condition:
