1949 USNA Emblem US Naval Academy Graduation Presentation Cut Glass Charger

Recent Washington, DC estate find.
This listing is for a very unique and amazingly well crafted 14 5/8" cut glass charger with the USNA Emblem and dated 1949.  Unfortunately with this estate, the original family name was withheld, so it could not be traced.  Through research, we discovered that it was somewhat common to have dated items with the US Naval Academy emblem as presentation gifts upon graduation.  We're assuming this piece was such an item.  Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or haziness; however, there are some light, fine marks on the underside where the piece rests; shelf marks.  Not significant and does not draw from the
grandeur
of this piece, but
noticeable
upon close inspection.  Regardless, still a stunning piece and most likely the light marks could be buffed out.  The hand cut elements are amazing as the emblem and date from the front side look three
dimensional
.  Truly an artistic piece.
