Description
Two Page Printed and Handwritten Official Document, Notarized and Signed, recording a Trademark application for "GOLDEN GATE ZINFANDEL", [illustrated] "with scene of sunrise over hills of vineyards - winery set in center of vineyard - bridge in front of vineyards - farmer walking beside his donkey who is loaded with wine barrels".The official trademark document is accompanied with a sample of the multi-color wine label that employs the trademark.
Trademarked applied for by Philip N. Pulleys, President, J. S. Contas Co., in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 1947.
VERY GOOD condition. The document has several horizontal folds, as normal; the label has some light signs of handling.
Insofar as I can find, J.S. Contas Co. was a wholesale wine and liquor distributor, and its president, Philip. N. Poulleys, was a Greek immigrant who had no apparent connection to any California winery.
Interesting wine ephemera. I see there is a "Golden Gate Zinfandel" on the market, but its label is nothing like this label. Same name though. Hmm.
